Step 1 - Make Sure You Are Using a Ring from MettleRings.com

For obvious reason these are easier to open and are great to perfect your new skill with. And if you get frustrated, just twist off the cap. Enjoy the beer and try again. Practice makes Perfect.
Step 3 - Position The Ring
You want to position the ring just under the bottle cap. Make sure that it catches on the edge of the cap. The parts that look kind of like teeth.
Step 4 - Apply Pressure and Open
Think of the ring as a fulcrum that you are using to open bottle cap and then apply a slight amount of pressure while moving your ring hand in an upward motion.
If at this point your finger hurts and you feel pain, stop. Readjust the angle between the ring and the beer bottle and try again.
There is a sweet spot that after time you will be able to quickly locate.
